National Baptist Congress
June 13 - June 18, 2010
The National Baptist Congress, under the leadership of Dr. T. B. Boyd III, is preparing to convene in Charlotte, NC on June 13-18, 2010 at the Charlotte Convention Center. This is the 104th week-long gathering of this institution. The National Baptist Congress is an itinerant Christian educational institute designed for leaders and workers in churches and denominations throughout the nation.
During this annual event, registrants are exposed to current trends in Christian education methodology, as well as strategies for effectively implementing the work of the Church. Congress traditionally begins on the second Sunday in June and continues for five days, this Congress draws thousands of delegates from all over the country.
This year’s Congress line-up of phenomenal keynote speakers includes the following people: civil rights activist and president of the National Action Network Rev. Al Sharpton, Charlotte’s own Dr. Gregory K. Moss, pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. David Goatley of the Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention, Rev. Nathan Scovens, Rev. John Brewster, and Rev. Lamont Johnson all of North Carolina. There will be a vast array of dynamic speakers from across the country to inspire, uplift, and empower the greater Charlotte Community. These awesome preachers, through the power of God, will transform the Charlotte Convention Center into a mighty House of Worship!
National recording artists will lead us into worship through song. LeJuene Thompson will open the Congress on Wednesday morning. LeJuene, a resident of Charlotte, has graced the gospel stage for many years performing hit songs such as “God’s Favor” and “Cast Your Cares” as a featured soloist with Donald Lawrence and The Tri City Singers. LeJuene’s most recent solo album is Metamorphosis. Other artists to appear during the week include the following people: Darrell Hines of Milwaukee Wisconsin, Monica Lisa Stevenson of Atlanta, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Mass Choir, and Tommie Campbell and Another Chance Ministry. The combination of these incredible speakers and dynamic artists will ensure that this event is not one that the Charlotte area will soon forget!

Nightly entertainment will feature a Youth Mixer and a Youth Gospel Explosion headlined by contemporary gospel artist Sarah Nicole and the Jerkins Twins.
